List of NFL Teams in Alphabetically Order
NFL stands for National Football League. It was formed on August 20, 1920 as American Professional Football Conference (APFC). After one month, another meeting was held on September 17, 1920 and this meeting ended with renaming the league as American Professional Football Association (APFA). On October 3, 1920 first event was held, ending with some controversial winning results. After that event, On June 24, 1922 the American Professional Football Association (APFA) changed its name to the National Football League (NFL).

In 1920, ten football teams gathered in Canton, Ohio, to create the American Professional Football Association (APFA). In 1930, the league had eleven teams. In 1950, after merging with the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), the league expanded to thirteen teams. In 1960, there were sixteen NFL and ten AFL teams in the league. Later, in 2002, there were thirty-two teams in the league. All 32 teams are located in the United States.
Initially, there were twelve founder members of the NFL. Only two members, the Decatur Staleys (now the Chicago Bears) and the Chicago Cardinals (now the Arizona Cardinals) are still in the league. The NFL is divided into the National Football Conference( NFC) and the American Football Conference(AFC). Each conference has four divisions with four teams each.
